Job summary

Mercy Hospital in Saint Louis is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory therapy per physician orders. You will consult with physicians on therapy effectiveness and act as an advanced resource for both physicians and nursing staff.

The shift is 7 pm–7 am with eligibility for shift differential. Required are state licensure as an RCP and the NBRC RRT credential; PALS is required for ER staff.

Qualifications

• Graduate of CoArc approved Respiratory Care program.
• Meets state licensure requirements and has a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential awarded by the NBRC; PALS required for ER staff.
• ACLS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care according to physician orders.
• Consult physicians on the effectiveness of therapy.
• Act as an advanced resource person for physicians and nursing on respiratory care.
• Perform duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of CoArc approved Respiratory Care program.
• Licensure: Meets state licensure requirements and has a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Experience: None.
• Certifications: Hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). For co-workers who work in the Emergency Room PALS is required.
• Other: Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. Plus, pinch up to 10 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally. Equipment Used: All appropriate respiratory care devices.
• Preferred Education: Acute Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Preferred Experience: Prefer critical care experience.
