Job summary

Columbus Regional Health is seeking an RN to join the Medical Surgical Step Down Unit (SDU) on-site. The 13-bed unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 and handles complex postoperative and medically complex patients.

The role requires an ASN or higher, Indiana RN license, and BLS; ACLS within 60 days. The position is full-time days, hourly compensation with shift differentials and holiday premiums.

Qualifications

• ASN or equivalent required; BSN preferred.
• Indiana RN License or Multi-State License via the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS certification within 60 days of hire.
• This role requires frequent standing, walking, lifting more than 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside nursing care on the SDU with a 1:3-4 nurse-to-patient ratio.
• Monitor patients with respiratory issues, sepsis, post-surgical recovery, and critical conditions.
• Collaborate with the care team to develop and adjust patient care plans.

What you need to know about this position:

Our Medical Surgical Step Down Unit (SDU) is a 13-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4.

Patients on this unit could include respiratory failure with BiPAP, sepsis management, severe electrolyte inbalances, post-surgery management of thoracotomies/VATS, wedge resections, vascular procedures and other surgeries.

Individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience. The hourly compensation is only a portion of the total rewards package and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.

This position is hourly and is eligible for applicable shift differentials and Sunday/holiday premiums.

In a status of at least 16 hours per week, employees are benefit eligible.

What is required for this position:

Upon hire, you must have:

• Associate of Nursing (ASN) or equivalent required; Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Indiana Registered Nurse License or Multi-State Registered Nurse License through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) required.

Within 30 days of hire you must have:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.*

Within 60 days of hire you must have:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.*

This position requires frequent standing, walking, talking and listening and lifting or moving more than 50 lbs.
