Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer who will support Project Managers to ensure installed work meets plan and specification requirements. The role emphasizes coordination with architects and subcontractors, review of shop drawings, and timely progress reporting.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in construction management or related field with 1+ year of GC experience, strong communication, and proficiency in Word and Excel. Relocation to the project site is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor, or comparable internship experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication; clear writing and presentation.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel; ability to learn company systems.

Responsibilities

• Assists Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specifications.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals for accuracy.
• Supports project scheduling and progress reporting.
• Coordinates with superintendents, architects, and subcontractors.
• Prepares and distributes meeting notes and weekly progress reports.
• Maintains logs of shop drawings, RFIs, and change requests.
• Supports bidding and scope development for trade contracts.
• Adheres to safety policies and procedures.
