Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in ensuring work meets plans and specifications on a nationally operating project. Relocation to the project site is required; the posted location does not reflect the project site.

The role supports scheduling, submittal reviews, progress reporting, and coordination with owners, architects, and subcontractors to maintain project timelines and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor, or comparable internship experience, preferred.
• Good written and oral communication skills with clear, organized writing.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specifications.
• Reviews plans for value analysis and constructability; communicates with architect.
• Publishes weekly progress reports and distributes minutes.
• Updates project schedules and coordinates shop drawings and milestones.
• Assists in bidding and developing scope of work for contractors.
• Coordinates testing and inspections to verify compliance with specs.
