Union Pacific Corporation in Marshalltown, IA is seeking a Track Laborer - Regional to perform inspections, repairs, and installations on railroad tracks within a designated territory to keep trains moving safely and efficiently.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license, be able to pass a physical/fitness-related screening, and be prepared for on-call and overtime work with frequent travel within the region. Excellent communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• Valid driver’s license
• Proficient verbal and written communication to coworkers and supervisors
• Must successfully complete an English assessment before interview (UP.jobs FAQ)
• Preferred CDL Class A or B
• Outdoor work in variable weather conditions
• Welding experience or welding certification
• Experience in construction-type settings
• Experience operating heavy equipment
• Railroad Maintenance of Way experience (1+ year)
• Willing to work on-call, overtime, various shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Residence within 50 miles of the job location by 60-day probationary period

Responsibilities

• Inspect railroad tracks, track beds, and right-of-way to identify defects
• Repair and replace rails, anchors, spikes, ballast, ties and related components
• Assist with handling, unloading, and movement of track materials and equipment
• Perform track maintenance tasks and installations, potentially operating heavy equipment
• Maintain track beds by removing vegetation and debris, sweep and clear dust or snow
• Adhere to safety rules and FRA regulations at all times
• Build and maintain positive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors, and customers
• Ensure compliance with railroad safety and operations regulations
