Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an IT Support Technician in Boxborough, MA to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for small/medium businesses. You will support workstations, VPNs, and servers, both on-site and remotely, while documenting each interaction and maintaining system health.

The role requires strong Windows OS skills, AD & policy knowledge, and experience with security tools. Travel may be required for client sites. A+/Net+/Sec+ certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Practical experience with hardware assembly, disassembly, maintenance and repair.
• Strong knowledge of Windows OS including installation, recovery, setup and updates.
• Knowledge of major software suites including Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with antivirus, security and firewall technologies, including installation and recovery.
• Working knowledge of business networking including Active Directory, Group Policy, file sharing, Exchange and MS Server.
• Solid troubleshooting skills across OS, hardware and network issues, including malware removal.
• Ability to identify and diagnose failed hardware components.
• Travel ability; valid driver's license.
• Experience with all modern operating systems preferred.
• Understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy and file sharing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues involving workstations, mobile devices, operating systems, software, hardware, peripherals, and entry-level server support.
• Provide customer support onsite and remotely using connection software.
• Document and follow up on every customer interaction.
• Prioritize and resolve tickets according to SOPs and knowledge-base articles.
• Meet or exceed KPI goals.
• Troubleshoot advanced desktop problems, VPN connectivity, hardware failures, line-of-business applications, and basic server functions.
• Perform hardware repair, maintenance, security tasks, component replacement, and diagnostics.
• Test solutions, document work, and provide recommendations for ongoing system health.
