Job summary

Amazon AWS Infrastructure Services seeks a Sr. Regional Environmental Engineer to lead environmental regulatory compliance for its data-center footprint in the Americas.

Qualifications

• Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs including regulated waste, water and air regulations.
• BA/BS in environmental science, chemical or environmental engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years serving as an environmental technical resource, compliance specialist, program specialist, or program manager.
• Experience with regulatory assessments and managing environmental compliance related to areas such as air quality, water quality, waste management, and hazardous materials.
• Applied knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and standards related to areas such as air quality, water quality, waste management, and hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

• Regular interactions with external and internal stakeholders delivering environmental compliance leadership and guidance.
• Develop and implement environmental standards, policies and practices including environmental management systems, training, risk assessments, and applicable environmental regulations.
• Conduct environmental compliance audits of data centers and active construction sites to ensure compliance with environmental requirements and for continuous improvement.
• Perform environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports, and develop appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate compliance record, documentation and data integrity.
• Perform data trend analysis to present to cluster leadership to support business and environmental compliance initiatives.
• Consult and partner with compliance and legal teams for interpretations and guidance.
• Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company.
• Prepare and submit time-critical reports to various governmental agencies.
• Identify improvement opportunities and partner with internal teams on programmatic issues that impact construction/operations handover phases.
