Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Regional Environmental Engineer to lead permitting and compliance for AWS data center development and operations in the United States.

The role focuses on multi-media environmental permitting, risk management, and compliance programs across global facilities. The candidate will collaborate with Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Design, and external regulators to execute site-specific strategies, ensure timely permits, and support sustainable infrastructure growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years experience delivering environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance projects with CWA 404 and NPDES.
• 3+ years of project or task management for environmental permitting/due diligence.
• Experience with multi-state environmental permitting and regulatory interactions.

Responsibilities

• Assess environmental risks and develop mitigations for data center siting and development.
• Lead Phase I/II ESAs, permitting evaluations, and resource assessments.
• Deliver permits, approvals and plans to enable on-time construction and operation.
• Communicate requirements and risks to internal and external partners.
• Coordinate with Real Estate, Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power and others to optimize site designs.
• Develop site development and permitting strategies that meet timelines.
• Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations.
• Develop, manage and track project metrics.
