Job summary

Komatsu is seeking a Regional EHS Manager to lead Environmental, Health and Safety programs across mining and service sites in the Elko, NV area. You will drive compliance, mitigate risks, and integrate safety as a core business value while partnering with regional leadership.

The role requires 7+ years in EHS management, 3+ years of leadership, MSHA experience, and the ability to travel up to 20%. A relocation bonus is available for out‑of‑state candidates.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in EHS management within mining, heavy equipment manufacturing, or construction.
• 3+ years of leadership experience overseeing EHS programs across multiple sites or business units.
• Extensive knowledge of MSHA regulations and mining industry safety standards.
• Ability to travel up to 20% in the Elko region.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs aligned with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Partner with regional and site leadership to embed EHS in operational planning.
• Oversee risk management through site inspections, hazard identifications, and safety audits.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
• Design and deliver role-specific safety training for supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
• Manage contractor safety compliance and foster cooperative relationships at customer sites.
• Support wellness initiatives, workers' compensation, and return-to-work programs.
• Oversee environmental compliance related to hazardous materials, waste, and spill prevention.
• Provide expertise on occupational health, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene.
• Lead emergency preparedness and business continuity across sites.
• Coordinate EHS audits and respond to findings with continuous improvement.
• Develop and report key EHS metrics to leadership.
• Build partnerships with mine site stakeholders to align EHS with operations.
• Take initiative on additional duties aligned with Komatsu's safety and environmental standards.
