Job summary

Komatsu seeks a Regional EHS Manager based in Elko, NV to lead and mature EHS programs across mining sites. You will drive regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and a culture of safety while partnering with operations and HR.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years in EHS leadership within mining or heavy industry, with strong incident investigation and training capabilities. A relocation bonus is available to support premier EHS leadership in the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Risk Management, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in EHS management within mining, heavy equipment manufacturing, or construction.
• 3+ years of leadership experience overseeing EHS programs across multiple sites or business units.
• Extensive knowledge of MSHA regulations and mining safety standards.
• Ability to travel up to 20% in the Elko region, including visits to remote mine sites.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs aligned with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
• Partner with regional and site leadership to embed EHS into operations planning.
• Oversee risk management through site inspections, hazard IDs, safety audits, and corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses for continuous improvement.
• Design and deliver training programs for supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
• Manage contractor safety compliance and set clear expectations.
• Collaborate with HR on wellness, workers' comp, and return-to-work programs.
• Oversee environmental compliance for hazardous materials, waste, stormwater, spills.
• Provide expertise on occupational health, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics.
• Lead emergency preparedness and business continuity across sites.
• Coordinate internal and external EHS audits and respond to findings.
• Develop and report key EHS metrics to leadership for data-driven decisions.
• Build partnerships with mine site stakeholders to align EHS with operations.
• Take initiative on additional duties supporting Komatsu's safety and sustainability goals.
