Job summary

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is hiring an UHP Caseworker in Sacramento to provide trauma-informed, client-centered case management for refugees and immigrants. You will assess needs, coordinate services, and connect clients with benefits, housing, medical care, and education resources.

Work involves collaboration with IRC staff and external partners, maintaining detailed records and ensuring timely service delivery while supporting clients toward self-sufficiency.

Qualifications

• Associate or BA degree in Social Work, Migration Studies, Public Health, Refugee Studies, Development, Immigration Law, or related field; or 1+ years of related professional experience, with 2+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate timely pre- and post-arrival services to ensure housing, food, medical care, and transportation for clients.
• Provide client-centered case management including benefits access, housing, mental health, school/ESL enrollment, referrals, appointments, and transportation/interpretation.
• Conduct intake assessments and develop self-sufficiency plans with each client.
• Provide individualized support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy.
• Monitor client progress toward goals and utilize resources effectively.
• Document interactions and maintain accurate case notes in required databases.
• Collaborate with coworkers and partner organizations; build relationships with service providers.
• Travel within the service area using a personal vehicle or public transit as needed.
