Job summary

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Sacramento seeks an UHP Caseworker to provide trauma-informed services for refugees and immigrants, helping clients achieve self-sufficiency. You will handle intake, develop plans, and connect clients to housing, benefits, healthcare, ESL, and community resources.

Ideal candidates bring an associate or BA in social work or related fields and 1–2+ years of human services experience, with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Associate or BA degree with an emphasis in Social Work, Migration Studies, Public Health, Refugee Studies, Development, Immigration Law, or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of related professional experience; 2+ years strongly preferred; experience with refugees/immigrants is highly valued.
• Fluent English; Ukrainian or Russian spoken by IRC clients is an asset; ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate pre- and post-arrival services to ensure housing, food, medical care, and transportation for clients.
• Provide client-centered case management including benefits access, housing, health, ESL enrollment, and referrals.
• Conduct intake and develop self-sufficiency plans with clients.
• Input data in databases and assist with tracking/reporting as needed.
• Collaborate with coworkers and partners; train volunteers as needed.
