Job summary

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health seeks an organized Referral Coordinator to respond to patient calls, greet patients, and assist with forms and technology. You will assess patient needs without appointments and handle requests for prescriptions, appointments, or clinical support.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with 1 year experience in a provider office.
• Knowledge of insurance benefit programs and medical terminology.
• Ability to effectively interact with providers, staff, patients and insurance plan representatives a must.
• Able to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Must have prior computer experience, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient calls providing general information and education.
• Greets patients arriving for appointments, assists with forms and use of technology.
• Assesses needs of patients without appointments and processes requests for prescriptions, forms, appointments or need to speak to clinical support.
• Reviews schedules daily for accuracy in scheduling and needed ancillaries; ensures fully booked schedules and patient needs are met.
• Completes follow up needs for patients as directed by the After Visit Summary.
• Receives incoming phone calls and appropriately assesses needs, takes messages, schedules appointments or transfers calls.
• Monitors and completes system messages and faxes to determine proper action in a timely manner.
• Performs authorizations and pre certifications for external and stat procedures.
• Reviews provider schedules and contacts patients requiring follow up.
