Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Referral Specialist to support appointment scheduling, patient registration, and cross-functional coordination. The role blends in-person orientation with later hybrid work arrangements, contributing to a patient-first experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of Customer Service in a Contact/Call Center and/or medical staff office and computer experience.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, establishing a positive first impression of Northwestern Medicine.
• Respond to questions and concerns and escalate issues to the Team Lead as needed.
• Triages telephone inquiries to determine urgency/acuity and physician referral needs.
• Register and educate patients on classes and program offerings; assist with scheduling and registration for appointments.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA and ensure accurate data entry in the patient database.
• Utilize Epic and scheduling systems to register patients, schedule appointments, and verify insurance.
