Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Quality Control Engineer to support project-level QC activities on large commercial builds. You will interpret specifications, coordinate with owner QA teams, review submittals, and manage inspections and the punch list to ensure compliance with codes and project requirements.

The role requires a civil/structural construction degree and 1–2 years of relevant experience, plus proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Primavera, and Prolog.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• Minimum of 1-2 years' experience on large commercial construction projects.
• A valid Driver's License.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow-up skills both internally and externally.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local reporting requirements and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with the owner's quality assurance team on all quality-related issues.
• Be technically experienced and capable of comprehending the specifications, standards and code requirements for all disciplines.
• Participate in submittal reviews, weekly QC meetings and preparatory meetings.
• Perform all initial and follow-up inspections and manage the punch list process.
• Inspections are conducted to verify that trade partner work complies with the project specifications and applicable codes.
• This includes performing material inspections to verify that the products are to specifications and that storage, staging and material handling methods are implemented.
• Maintain records that identify areas inspected, tests performed and any significant findings.
• Initiate deficiency reports and track their resolution to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
• Work closely with trade partner quality control personnel to understand their QC procedures.
• Review the trade partner's quality control logs and ensure corrective actions are implemented, when required.
• Assist with the coordination and scheduling of third-party testing and source inspections.
• Interface with third party testing agencies, as necessary.
