Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Quality Control Engineer for a major Southern California project. You will interface with the owner's QA team, interpret specifications and codes, participate in reviews, and manage the punch list to ensure compliance with contract requirements.

This safety-sensitive role requires a civil/structural engineering or construction management degree, 1–2 years on large commercial projects, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
• A valid Driver’s License.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Microsoft Office applications proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow-up skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local reporting requirements and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with the owner's quality assurance team on all quality-related issues.
• Be technically experienced and capable of comprehending specifications, standards and code requirements for all disciplines.
• Participate in submittal reviews, weekly QC meetings and preparatory meetings.
• Perform all initial and follow-up inspections and manage the punch list process.
• Inspections verify trade partner work complies with project specs and codes.
• Maintain records that identify areas inspected, tests performed and significant findings.
• Initiate deficiency reports and track resolutions to stakeholders’ satisfaction.
• Work with trade partner QC personnel to understand their procedures and ensure corrective actions.
• Coordinate and schedule third-party testing and inspections, when required.
