Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Quality Control Engineer to oversee project-level QC activities, implement QC policies, and support multiple project sites. The role emphasizes collaboration with owners, subcontractors, and third-party testers to assure compliance with specifications and codes.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
• A valid Driver’s License.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow up with internal/external stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local reporting requirements and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with the owner’s quality assurance team on all quality-related issues.
• Be technically experienced and capable of understanding specifications, standards and code requirements.
• Participate in submittal reviews, weekly QC meetings and preparatory meetings.
• Perform initial and follow-up inspections and manage the punch list process.
• Inspections verify trades comply with project specifications and codes.
• Inspect materials, storage, staging and handling as required.
• Maintain records of inspections, tests and findings.
• Initiate deficiency reports and track resolutions.
• Work with trade partner QC personnel to implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate third-party testing and source inspections.
