Job summary

Prime Controls, L.P. is a family-owned Systems Integration and I&C Construction firm providing field QA/QC inspections on instrumentation devices and control panels.

The role requires interpreting P&IDs, UL/NEC standards knowledge, and hands-on testing of 120 VAC, 24VDC, and 480V systems, with a focus on safety and accurate documentation. The successful candidate will review field installations, generate improvement reports, and collaborate with project teams to implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

• AA Electrical Technology degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• 5+ years of related field experience.
• State Journeyman License.
• Ability to power up and test 120 VAC, 24VDC, and 480V systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
• Ability to work with conduit, fittings, and electrical cabinets.
• Interpretation of P&IDs and tubing drawings.
• Experience with customer software: ProCore, CxAlloy, BIM360 Field.
• Knowledge of wiring, fabrication, and testing of control panels under UL 508A & 698A.
• Understanding of PLCs and instrument loops (4-20mA).
• Ability to write clear corrective actions and follow up.

Responsibilities

• Develop written reports illustrating opportunities for improvement based on factual findings.
• Communicate to team members in a facilitative manner on how to improve performance, based on findings from quality inspections and insights.
• Analyze quality findings and provide insights into corrective measures that minimize recurrence.
• Properly use electrical test equipment and similar tools.
• Visually verify BOMs for panels and instrumentation devices.
• Visually verify, test electrical components, and trace wire origins and designations for accuracy and correct wiring tags.
• Strictly adhere to all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
