Job summary

The State of West Virginia is seeking staff to process applications and determine eligibility for economic assistance programs, including SNAP and Medicaid. You will schedule and conduct interviews, assess client information, and maintain caseloads while coordinating referrals to supportive services.

Overtime may be required and a valid driver's license may be needed. State employment offers a variety of benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Substitution allows combinations of experience in direct client services, customer service, telemarketing, retail, or clerical work on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience in Economic Services work requiring program eligibility decisions may substitute for training.

Responsibilities

• Process applications to determine eligibility for economic assistance programs such as SNAP and Medicaid.
• Schedule and conduct telephone and face-to-face interviews with clients.
• Maintain an up-to-date client caseload and refer clients to supportive services as needed.
• Oversee repayment of benefits issued in error where applicable.
