Job summary

The State of West Virginia is seeking a Welfare Eligibility Specialist to process applications and determine eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers, based in Martinsburg, WV. Under general supervision, you will interview clients to collect financial and personal information and maintain caseloads.

You will schedule interviews, refer clients to services, and handle potential repayments. A Bachelor's degree is required, and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Substitution: experience may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience in Economic Services work may substitute for the required training.
• Special Requirement: a valid driver's license may be required.
• Probationary period: 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Process applications for economic assistance programs and determine eligibility.
• Schedule and conduct telephone and face-to-face interviews.
• Maintain an up-to-date client caseload and refer clients to supportive services.
• May obtain repayment for erroneous benefits.
• Oversee a caseload and perform related work.
• Mandatory overtime may be required.
