Job summary

West Virginia Department of Human Services is seeking a caseworker to process applications, determine eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and related programs, and manage a statewide caseload across offices.

Under general supervision, you will conduct interviews, collect financial and personal information, schedule interviews, refer clients to services, and may recover benefits issued in error. Overtime may be required, and a valid drivers license may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Substitution: combinations of education/experience may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
• Special Requirement: a valid driver's license may be required.
• Overtime may be required as mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Process applications and determine eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers.
• Schedule telephone and face-to-face interviews; conduct personal interviews with clients.
• Determine eligibility; maintain an up-to-date client caseload; refer clients to supportive services.
• May obtain repayment from clients who have been issued benefits erroneously.
• Performs related work as required.
