Job summary

Valiant Residential is seeking an Assistant Maintenance to support the maintenance supervisor and uphold property integrity in Houston. You will work with the leasing team to maximize renewals and leasing opportunities, prioritizing safety and policy compliance.

The role requires at least two years in apartment maintenance or related trades, a high school diploma, and an EPA certification. A valid driver’s license and tool kit are a must.

Qualifications

• Two years of full‑time experience in apartment maintenance or a trade with basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual in Spanish a plus.
• Own a basic set of hand tools.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Complete resident service requests within 24 hours whenever possible.
• Manage the system for handling resident service requests and schedule on‑call rotations.
• Ensure all duties follow company policies and applicable laws (ADA, Fair Housing, OSHA).
• Assist in distributing flyers and other materials.
• Maintain safety materials and monitor property conditions; correct unsafe conditions.
• Keep records of preventive maintenance, service requests, and make‑ready status of vacant units.
• Schedule and perform routine maintenance on equipment; inspect tools.
• Handle on‑call duties and standby emergency coverage as needed.
• Assist in preparing property for inspections and other duties assigned by the property manager or Regional Community Supervisor.
