The Center for Teacher Effectiveness is seeking professional development trainers to deliver K-12 classroom management trainings in Houston and surrounding areas. This is an independent 1099 contractor role with no guaranteed hours and compensation on a per-day basis.

Trainings can be in person or virtual, typically running full or half days. You’ll handle outreach to schools, negotiate contracts, and coordinate scheduling, with payments issued every Friday.

Professional Development Trainer, Independent Contractor

This is independent work. You'd join us as a 1099 contractor and deliver classroom management training to K-12 schools in Houston, Pasadena, Pearland, Sugar Land, Katy, and anywhere else you want to go. The trainings are full and half days of PD for a school's teachers and staff.

Independent also means no guaranteed hours. How many trainings you get depends a lot on the schools you reach, and it varies. When you do train, a day typically pays $1,000 or more, and you're paid every Friday.

Most trainings start with your own outreach. Certification teaches you how to approach schools, and once one wants to book, your National Director drafts the contract and does the negotiating. There are no territories, so your district, the next one over, and schools out of state are all open to you. You can train in person or virtually.

We've trained over 400,000 educators in every state since 1993, and each new trainer comes in through the same virtual Weekend Certification: 36 hours over three days across two weekends. It qualifies for 4 graduate credits through UMass Global and comes with training materials, an orientation, and support once you're done.

Who fits? Anyone who teaches or has taught K-12, plus current and former coaches, counselors, and principals. Most of our trainers have school jobs too, and they schedule trainings for weekends, evenings, personal days, and summer. Students can apply as well, as long as they plan to complete certification.
