Center for Teacher Effectiveness seeks Professional Development Trainers to teach classroom management to K-12 teachers in New York and surrounding boroughs. This is a 1099 independent contractor position with no guaranteed hours and earnings typically around $1,000+ per training day.
Trainers lead sessions at schools or online, connect with districts themselves, and work with a National Director on contracts. Training starts with a virtual Weekend Certification and earns graduate credits.
Our trainers teach classroom management to K-12 teachers, and we need more of them in New York. If you work in a school in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, or Manhattan, and colleagues already come to you for help with a hard class, you have the start of what this job asks for.
The Center for Teacher Effectiveness has trained more than 400,000 educators in all 50 states since 1993. Our trainers lead whole-staff sessions on classroom management, either at the school or online.
This is a 1099 independent contractor position. There are no guaranteed hours, and the number of trainings you do will change from year to year. Trainers typically earn $1,000 or more per training day and are paid every Friday.
Most trainings come from schools you connect with yourself, using the outreach approach you learn in certification. When a school wants to book, your National Director writes the contract and handles the negotiation. There are no territories, so you can train in your own district, somewhere nearby, or anywhere in the country.
Every trainer starts with our virtual Weekend Certification, 36 hours over three days on two weekends. It is eligible for 4 graduate credits through UMass Global, and it includes an orientation, the training materials, and support after you finish.
We want to hear from current and former K-12 teachers, and also from coaches, counselors, principals, and anyone else who has worked in schools. Most of our trainers are still working in schools and train on evenings, weekends, and personal days, plus the summer. Students are welcome to apply if they plan to complete certification.
