Job summary

Smithfield Packaged Meats Corp is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee the entire production line, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time targets. You will lead and train the hourly workforce, maintain compliance with HACCP/USDA standards, and drive continuous improvement across yields and costs.

You’ll coordinate with Operations Managers, optimize workflows, and manage equipment setup and maintenance to keep peak performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
• Experience acting as a lead by training, coaching or mentoring others or by managing a process or project.
• Strong oral and written communication while leading problem-solving for complex process issues with solid analytical and math abilities.
• Ability to motivate, train, and coach employees to peak performance in a respectful, team-oriented environment.
• Adaptable to fast-paced environments, able to work long hours and weekends when needed; willing to travel up to 5%.
• This role offers the opportunity to travel up to 5% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Safety and compliance: perform daily inspections and lead safety audits per HACCP and USDA regulations.
• Product quality and training: enforce safety and quality plans, train on SOPs including lock-out/tag-out.
• Operational efficiency: track yields, efficiencies and variances; improve workflows to minimize downtime and costs.
• Team leadership and communication: guide hourly production staff; lead monthly line meetings and daily floor walks.
• Continuous improvement: analyze product metrics and implement changes to boost efficiency and maintain high quality.
