Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a production supervisor to oversee daily manufacturing operations on the floor, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are met across shifts. You will lead, train, and motivate hourly staff while maintaining rigorous standards and protocols in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on supervision, corrective action, and collaboration with Operations Managers to optimize line performance, reduce downtime, and sustain high-quality outputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Experience leading training, coaching, or mentoring staff on processes or projects.
• Strong oral and written communication while guiding problem-solving for complex issues.
• Proven ability to motivate, train, and coach teams to peak performance and maintain a positive work environment.
• Able to adapt to fast-paced environments, work in heat/cold, and handle long hours including weekends when needed.
• Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Safety and Compliance: perform daily inspections, lead safety audits, and ensure HACCP/USDA adherence.
• Product Quality and Training: enforce safety/quality plans and train on SOPs (LOTO included).
• Operational Efficiency: analyze yields, efficiencies, and variances to improve workflows and reduce downtime.
• Team Leadership and Communication: guide hourly employees, lead monthly line meetings, and walk the floor daily.
• Continuous Improvement: analyze metrics and suggest changes to improve production efficiency and quality.
