Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse for Physician Practice in an ambulatory clinic. The RN will assess patients, assist with procedures, administer medications and vaccines, educate patients, and coordinate care with physicians and staff.

The role emphasizes triage, population health outreach, and meticulous documentation in the electronic health record to support chronic disease management and prevention.

Qualifications

• ADN required; BSN preferred.
• 1–2 years ambulatory/clinic experience preferred.
• Current RN license is required; NCLEX-RN must pass; BLS required; AMB-BC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and triage in person and by phone.
• Assist physicians with examinations and procedures.
• Administer medications, immunizations, treatments.
• Provide patient education and self-management support.
• Coordinate referrals and follow-up care.
• Manage patient messages and results within scope.
• Support population health outreach and prevention.
• Maintain safe, clean clinical environment and stocked supplies.
• Document care in the EHR.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
