Job summary

Los Tacos No. 1 in New York is seeking a Prep Cook to support the kitchen by preparing and organizing ingredients for menu items. You will assist with chopping, marinating, and portioning, while ensuring cleanliness and food safety.

You will work with the kitchen team to maintain inventory, quality, and presentation during busy periods. Prior experience in a fast-paced setting and flexibility for evenings/weekends are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow recipes and portion sizes accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing ingredients (e.g., chopping vegetables, marinating meats, portioning condiments) according to recipes.
• Monitor ingredient levels and communicate needs to kitchen staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and safe operation of kitchen equipment.
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation protocols and proper storage/ labeling.
• Coordinate preparation with cooks/taqueros to support peak hours.
• Assist with dishwashing and organization of workstations.
