Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for 2nd shift at our Moody, AL facility. This on-site role emphasizes precision, setup of large pump components, and operation of large lathes to repair and overhaul equipment.

You will interpret blueprints, select tools, and set speeds/feeds to achieve tight tolerances, with overtime and heavy lifting part of the job. Shift differential and relocation/retention bonuses are offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ years operating King-style boring mills and/or vertical turning lathes (VTLs).
• Ability to safely use precision measuring tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operate large Lathes for repair and overhaul.
• Read blueprints and determine critical dimensions using micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
• Maintain tight tolerances down to .0005" as required by drawings.
• Select cutting tools and determine speeds/feeds for proper surface finish.
• Work overtime and lift heavy components; operate forklift and crane safely.
• Cross train in fabrication, assembly, rotor balancing, and related areas.
• Assist in disassembly, reassembly, repair and rebuilding of pumps.
