Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for the 2nd shift at the Moody, AL on-site facility. The role focuses on precision machining of large pump components using vertical/horizontal lathes and king-style mills, with strong emphasis on tolerances, setup, and process control.

Applicants should have 3+ years as a machinist, blueprints understanding, and experience with King-style equipment. A shift differential and relocation assistance are offered to qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/machinist.
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ year experience operating King-style boring mills and/or vertical turning lathes (VTLs).
• Ability to safely use a variety of precision tools and measurement devices.

Responsibilities

• Sets up large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operates large vertical/horizontal lathes for repair/overhaul of pumps and compressors.
• Interprets blueprints to determine critical dimensions and uses micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools.
• Maintains tight tolerances as specified, down to 0.0005 inches when required.
• Selects appropriate cutting tools and determines speeds/feeds for proper surface finish.
• Works overtime as needed and adheres to EH&S and QMS processes.
• Lifts and rigs heavy components and assists in disassembly/reassembly as needed.
• Cross-trains in fabrication, assembly, rotar balancing, etc.
