Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for the 2nd shift at Moody, AL. The role emphasizes precision in setup and operation of large lathes and related equipment, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Expect instances of overtime and the use of micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools. The position offers on-site work and a competitive hourly rate with shift differential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ years operating King-style boring mills and/or vertical turning lathes (VTLs).
• Experience with precision measuring tools and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs set ups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operations of large vertical & horizontal lathes used to repair and overhaul pumps & compressors.
• Interprets blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions and tolerances; reads micrometers, calipers, dial indicators.
• Maintains tight tolerances as indicated, sometimes as low as .0005”.
• Selects appropriate cutting tools and determines speeds/feeds for desired surface finish.
• Overtime work possible; safe operation of forklift and crane; EH&S and QMS adherence.
