Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for the Moody, AL facility. This 2nd shift role emphasizes precision, setup, and the use of large lathes and milling equipment to service Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps and compressors. On-site work requires strict adherence to safety procedures and quality standards.

You will read blueprints, select tools, and set speeds/feeds to achieve tight tolerances. The position offers growth within a global company and requires the ability to work overtime

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/machinist.
• 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ years of experience operating King-style boring mills and/or vertical turning lathes (VTLs).
• Ability to safely use measuring tools and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs set ups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operations of large Vertical & Horizontal Lathes used to repair and overhaul Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps & Compressors.
• Interprets blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions and tolerances; reads micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators and other precision equipment.
• Maintains tight tolerances as indicated, down to 0.0005 inches when required.
• Selects appropriate cutting tools and determines speeds/feeds to achieve proper surface finish.
• Overtime is required; may work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Operates forklift and overhead crane safely; adheres to EH&S & QMS processes.
• Lifts and rigs heavy components; assists in disassembly/reassembly and rebuilding of pumps.
• Cross-trains in fabrication, assembly, rotor balancing as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
