Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for the Moody, AL facility on 2nd shift (Mon–Thu, 8:00 PM–6:00 AM). The role emphasizes precision, safety, and teamwork in a manufacturing environment.

You will read blueprints, set up machines, and perform precise measurements with micrometers, calipers, and test equipment to produce or repair large pump components and compressors. On-site work with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machine setup and machine controls.
• 3+ years as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ years reading blueprints.
• 1+ years operating King-style boring mills or VTLs.

Responsibilities

• Set up large pump components and operate large lathes for repair.
• Read blueprints to determine critical dimensions and use micrometers and calipers.
• Maintain tight tolerances as low as .0005 inches as required.
• Select cutting tools and determine speeds/feeds for surface finish.
• Work overtime as needed (often weekdays, sometimes weekends).
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely in the shop.
• Work with lifting and rigging of heavy components; assist disassembly/reassembly.
• Cross-train in areas like fabrication, assembly, rotor balancing.
• Other duties as assigned.
