Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is hiring a Manual Machinist for our Moody, AL facility to join a precision-focused team on the 2nd shift. You will perform setups, read blueprints, and run large lathes to repair and overhaul liquid ring vacuum pumps and compressors.

The position requires 3+ years machining experience, blueprints literacy, and hands-on tool knowledge. Expect overtime, forklift/overhead crane operation, and potential cross-training across fabrication areas.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ year operating King-style boring mills or VTLs.
• Ability to use micrometers, calipers and height gauges safely.

Responsibilities

• Performs setups of large vacuum pump components and operates large lathes for repairs.
• Interprets blueprints and uses precision measuring tools to spec tolerances.
• Maintains tolerances as low as 0.0005 inches when required.
• Selects cutting tools and determines speeds/feeds for surface finish.
• Overtime and weekend work possible.
• Operate forklift and overhead crane in shop; follow EH&S processes.
• Lifts and rigs heavy components; disassembles and rebuilds pumps.
• Cross-train in Fabrication, Assembly, and Rotor Balancing as needed.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
