Job summary

Food Management Search, Inc. is seeking a Pre-Sales Applications Engineer for robotic welding and automated systems in the Pewaukee, WI area. This on-site role focuses on evaluating customer prints for weld feasibility, architecting automation concepts, and developing compelling technical proposals.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in welding automation, strong GMAW/GTAW knowledge, and CAD proficiency. US work authorization and a willingness to travel ~15% are required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of welding automation experience in pre-sales or robotic systems.
• Strong understanding of GMAW/MIG and GTAW/TIG welding processes.
• CAD/layout proficiency with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Lead Technical Feasibility: serve as the main pre-sales technical point of contact, reviewing customer parts and drawings to evaluate weld feasibility.
• Architect Welding Automation Concepts: select welding processes, power sources, tooling concepts, and robot layouts.
• Develop Technical Proposals: generate technical proposal content including layouts, cycle times, labor hours, and BOMs.
• Conduct Process Trials & Testing: coordinate weld samples, trials, and feasibility testing before customer contract.
• Customer Collaboration & Travel: travel to customer facilities (~15% domestically/internationally) to gather requirements and present solutions.
• Code & Compliance Oversight: ensure weld processes meet AWS D1.1, ASME IX and customer specs.
