Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical SME to lead power systems design for hyperscale and mission-critical data centers. You will shape MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator paralleling, and redundancy strategies, while guiding project teams and participating in client workshops.

You will mentor engineers, develop reusable calculation libraries, and represent Jacobs in IEEE/industry collaborations. The role requires active PE licensure and extensive data center experience, with a hybrid travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program; Master’s degree preferred.
• Active Electrical PE licensure in at least one U.S. state; PE is a condition of employment.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering experience; 15+ years in mission-critical data center or advanced technology facility design.
• Power systems expertise in MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator sizing/paralleling, transfer switching, and redundancy for Tier III/IV facilities.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower; short-circuit studies, protective coordination, arc flash per IEEE 1584, load flow modeling.
• Code compliance with NEC, NFPA 70/110/72, IEEE 3000-series, NESC, IEC; experience with design tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP)

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients and define architecture and redundancy strategies.
• Drive the full power chain from MV/LV distribution through UPS, generator paralleling, and transfer switching; conduct power studies.
• Govern electrical deliverables, review calculations and drawings, and support commissioning and IST of critical power systems.
• Represent Jacobs’ electrical expertise at client workshops and industry forums; contribute to RFPs and proposals.
• Mentor engineers, build reusable calculation libraries, and contribute to industry standards and publications.
