Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Power & Hardware Design Engineer to serve as a technical authority for power systems within its OneMHS program. You will design, engineer, and standardize power distribution for material handling facilities, focusing on safety, reliability, and scalable hardware solutions in Nashville.

You will collaborate with WWDE, Operations Engineering, and cross-functional teams to deliver robust designs, perform arc flash analyses, develop A/E drawing sets, and drive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent required.
• Experience with large scale mechanical and power systems.
• Experience solving problems with technology in Energy & Utilities industries.
• 1+ years of developing electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or Master’s in related field.
• Experience in hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and optimize 3-phase power systems and power distribution for material handling applications.
• Develop MDBs, PDPs, substations, and panel schedules with proper sizing and protection coordination.
• Create single-line diagrams, power distribution schematics, and equipment layouts.
• Perform power quality analyses, fault current studies, and coordination studies for reliability and safety.
• Select transformers, switchgear, breakers, bus ducts, and other distribution equipment.
• Design modular, scalable power distribution prioritizing reliability and maintainability.
• Establish best practices for panel placement, grounding, and safety circuit design.
• Carry out arc flash studies and labeling per NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584.
