Job summary

The City of Morgantown is seeking a Police Communications Technician to support the Police Department. The role handles non-emergency inquiries by phone and in person, routes calls to MECCA 911 when needed, and maintains records and security within the dispatch center.

Responsibilities include monitoring radio communications, processing payments after hours, and ensuring accurate data entry into the Records Management System. Prior admin or law enforcement exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, on-the-job or technical training may be considered.
• 1-3 years of experience in an administrative role or similar setting.
• Experience in law enforcement environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer and direct incoming telephone calls in a courteous and timely manner.
• Determine priority of requests and transfer calls to MECCA 911 center when necessary.
• Receive non-emergency requests related to parking or other complaints and route to appropriate departments.
• Accurately obtain information and transfer calls to correct department within or outside city limits.
• Receive and complete minor incident reports in the records management system.
• Receive and receipts payments for bail bonds, boot fees, and traffic fines after hours.
• Maintain list of towed vehicles and tow release forms as needed.
• Monitor and record of officers during arrests to ensure safety.
• Maintain dispatch center audio logging and electronic incident reports.
