Job summary

The City of Kingman is seeking a Public Safety Telecommunicator for the Fire Department Communications Center. You will answer 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls, gather critical information, and dispatch police, fire, and medical units to protect lives and property in the community.

Work in a fast-paced, 24/7 emergency communications center reporting to the Communications Center Supervisor/Manager. The ideal candidate is dependable, calm under pressure, values teamwork, accuracy, and professionalism

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED including coursework in office or administrative fields.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and customer service.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Windows.

Responsibilities

• Operate multi-channel radio systems and telephones to dispatch police, fire, and medical units.
• Receive and evaluate 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls; determine urgency and prioritize responses.
• Enter, verify, and maintain information in CAD/ACJIS/NCIC; keep logs and records.
• Provide emergency medical instructions using EMD protocols until responders arrive.
