Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • TCOLE license within one year of appointment required.
  • TCOLE Basic Telecommunicator course and related trainings within one year required.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license; must obtain Texas license within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Operates emergency and non-emergency communication systems; receives service requests by telephone; provides information and directions as needed.
  • Operates CAD and retrieves information from TCIC/NCIC and other databases.
  • Monitors state and national messages and ensures compliance with laws and policies.
  • Maintains records and logs of services requested.
  • Operates radio console with multiple talk groups and dispatches/monitors multiple agencies.
  • Ensures radio operations comply with FCC procedures and requirements.
  • Maintains attentiveness to pre-alerts and promptly dispatches units to scenes.

Education

High School Diploma or GED
TCOLE license within one year
TCOLE Basic Telecommunicator course
Must be 18 years of age
U.S. citizen
Driver's license (Texas) within 90 days
