Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer II to ensure 24x7 coverage for our NOCC services and to keep our distributed platform running smoothly. You will monitor incidents, collaborate with engineers, and continually improve operational stability across our world-class systems.

The role requires 5 years of experience, UNIX expertise, SQL ability, and an active Secret clearance. Onsite work at the Cambridge, MA office is expected, with opportunity to contribute to 24x7

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience administering UNIX-based operating systems.
• Experience with fault detection, troubleshooting, ticketing, escalation, and related operational processes.
• Ability to understand and write SQL queries and to work with TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, and HTTP protocols.
• Excellent communication, attention to detail, and dependability.
• Active Secret security clearance.
• Ability to work onsite Monday–Friday at our Cambridge, MA office.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve platform problems through alerts, emails, and calls.
• Collaborate with Engineers, System Architects, Infrastructure Vendors, and Customers to resolve issues and improve stability.
• Update and patch system software components and configurations.
• Document work in the ticketing system for clear communication and learning.
• Develop and maintain documentation, procedures and tools.
