Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer II to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve platform incidents in a 24x7 global environment.

You will collaborate with engineers, architects, and vendors to isolate issues and improve platform reliability. The role requires 5+ years of UNIX administration, SQL querying, and knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, and HTTP, plus a Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience administering UNIX-based operating systems.
• Experience with fault detection, troubleshooting, trouble ticketing, escalation and related operational processes.
• Ability to understand and write SQL queries and TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, and HTTP protocols.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with high attention to detail and dependability.
• Active Secret security clearance.
• Ability to work independently and own issues through resolution.
• Onsite work required at Cambridge, MA office, Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring, troubleshooting, and correcting platform problems through alerts, emails, and calls.
• Collaborating with Engineers, System Architects, Infrastructure Vendors, and Customers to isolate problems and improve stability.
• Updating and patching system software components and configurations.
• Documenting work in the trouble ticketing system for clarity and learning.
• Developing and maintaining documentation, procedures, and tools.
