Job summary

Akamai seeks a Platform Operations Engineer II to help run our Highly Visible Platform Operations NOCC. You’ll monitor, troubleshoot, and coordinate with engineers to maintain operational stability, with 24x7 coverage for global services.

The role requires 5 years’ experience, UNIX administration, SQL knowledge, and an active Secret clearance. Onsite work at Cambridge, MA is required; we offer strong benefits and a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience administering UNIX-based operating systems.
• Experience with fault detection, troubleshooting, trouble ticketing, escalation, and related operational processes.
• Ability to write SQL queries and understand TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, and HTTP.
• Active Secret security clearance.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of issues through resolution.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and correct platform problems through alert-driven workflow, emails, and phone calls.
• Collaborate with Engineers, System Architects, Infrastructure Vendors, and Customers to isolate problems and improve stability.
• Update and patch system software components and configurations.
• Document work in the trouble ticketing system for communication and learning.
• Develop and maintain documentation, procedures and tools.
