Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. seeks a Platform Operations Engineer II to help monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain our highly distributed cloud platform.

The role offers 24x7 coverage for worldwide services from our Cambridge, MA office, collaborating with engineers, architects, and customers to resolve issues and improve operational stability. You will update software components, document procedures, and contribute to tools and runbooks while leveraging UNIX experience, SQL skills, and a Secret

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• Experience administering UNIX-based operating systems
• Experience with fault detection, troubleshooting, ticketing and escalation processes
• Ability to write SQL queries and understand TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, and HTTP
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, timeliness and dependability
• Active Secret security clearance
• Ability to work onsite Monday–Friday at our Cambridge, MA office

Responsibilities

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and correct platform problems via alerts, emails, and calls
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, vendors, and customers to isolate problems and improve platform stability
• Update and patch system software components and configurations
• Document work in the ticketing system for clear communication and learning
• Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and tools
