Job summary

Qualifications

• Active state licensure from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, naturopathic training program or medical school required OR
• Completion of a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school and only if also currently licensed as a physician or certified as an EMT in the state
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in a health care environment or one year of clinical experience from a vocational or nursing institution
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred
• Ability to perform physical assessment of heart and lungs and to identify signs of drug use

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures
• Administer and supervise approved immunizations
• Provide emergency medical care to donors and staff
• Promote positive donor relations
• Conduct donor interviews for suitability and consent
• Review donor test results and determine donor suitability
• Explain informed consent and immunization schedules to donors
• Maintain donor data in electronic information systems
• Ensure compliance with HSE/OSHA policies and SOPs
• May be cross-trained in other areas
