Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist to assist plasma center operations in Warren, MI. You will determine donor eligibility, review laboratory results, and manage donor safety under supervision of the Center Manager and Center Physician.

Responsibilities include evaluating donor reactions, coordinating with medical staff, and supporting EHS-led initiatives. OSHA-compliant environment with patient-focused service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN; CPR and AED certification current.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs; coordinate with Center Physician for guidance and donor safety.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; follow EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemics.
