Job summary

Starling Physicians, a VillageMD company, is hiring phlebotomy professionals to support satellite labs around CT. You will collect blood samples using aseptic technique, process specimens, and assist in home sample collection while documenting results in the LIS.

Travel among satellite sites is required. Requires a high school diploma, 2+ years phlebotomy experience, and HIPAA knowledge; certification (NHA) and CLA are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience required and drug screen collection preferred.
• Phlebotomy Technician Certification through the National Health Career Association (NHA) preferred; may be required for specific locations based on operational needs.
• CLA Certificate preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA guidelines and laboratory requirements to include skills in phlebotomy techniques with adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients, computer/data entry skills and phone etiquette are required.
• Attention to detail, ability to critically think, multitask, and maintain accuracy during periods of frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood cultures using aseptic technique.
• Process Stat specimens according to SOP.
• Collect specimens at home (Urine & Stool) and document properly.
• Administer and collect H. pylori Breath test.
• Handle orders on minors with proper procedures.
• Label and paperwork for OVH Blood Bank specimens.
• Process satellite specimens and deliver to appropriate department.
• Monitor inventory and restock the phlebotomy area as needed.
• Log and document callbacks and follow-ups.
• Utilize LIS for applicable tasks and adapt to downtime procedures.
