Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Patient Service Center Phlebotomist to join our team in a primary care setting. You will perform specimen collections, ensure accurate patient data entry, and act as the face of the BILH Laboratories for patients.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, data validation, specimen preparation, and travel to additional sites as needed. You will work under the Phlebotomy Supervisor and participate in QA and training activities to maintain high levels of patient

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree or college classes welcomed.
• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or other accredited agency preferred.
• Previous experience as a phlebotomist preferred.
• 1+ year experience in lab Patient Service Centers preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent phlebotomy and related services for all patients.
• Validate/update patient demographics and insurance information in the system; collect data for new patients.
• Collect specimens by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all ages.
• Prepare specimens for transport to the BILH laboratory.
• Perform administrative duties to open/close the Patient Service Center daily.
• Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring PSC Phlebotomists as needed.
• Travel to additional Patient Service Centers and doctor’s office sites as required.
• Read and comply with departmental policies and procedures.
• Report to the Phlebotomy Supervisor and participate in QA activities.
• Support patient and provider needs to ensure high satisfaction.
