Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) is seeking a Patient Service Center Phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy across PSCs and doctor offices. You will collect specimens, prepare them for transport, and handle daily administrative duties under the Phlebotomy Supervisor's guidance.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team. Prior PSC or lab experience is preferred, with ASCP certification optional but valued.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Associate’s Degree or college classes welcomed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision.
• Basic familiarity with computer applications preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or another accredited agency preferred.
• Previous experience as a phlebotomist preferred.
• One or more years previous experience working in lab Patient Service Centers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent phlebotomy and phlebotomy-related services for all patients.
• Validate and/or update patient demographics in the BILH system when applicable and enter orders.
• Collect specimens via venipuncture and capillary techniques for all ages.
• Prepare specimens for transport to BILH laboratory.
• Perform administrative duties to open/close the PSC daily.
• Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring PSC Phlebotomists.
• Travel to additional PSCs and doctor offices as needed.
• Read and comply with departmental policies and procedures.
• Report to Phlebotomy Supervisor and take direction.
• Participate in lab QA programs, competency assessments, and continuing education.
• Aim to meet patient and provider needs and ensure satisfaction.
