Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is hiring a Patient Service Center Phlebotomist to perform specimen collections and deliver high-quality customer service in a PSC setting. This role may work in a primary care clinic, medical office building, or doctor's office and requires accuracy in data entry and a patient-focused approach.

You will travel to additional PSCs as needed and participate in QA programs, training, and continuing education to maintain patient safety and service excellence.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree or college classes welcomed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Strong attention to detail required.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision.
• Basic familiarity with computer applications preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or another accredited agency preferred.
• Previous phlebotomist experience preferred.
• 1+ years experience in lab Patient Service Centers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent phlebotomy and phlebotomy-related services for all patients.
• Validate and/or update patient demographics in the BIS system; enter lab orders.
• Collect specimens by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all ages.
• Prepare specimens for transport to BIS laboratory via courier.
• Perform administrative/clerical duties to open/close the PSC daily.
• Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring PSC Phlebotomists.
• Travel to additional PSCs and doctor sites as needed.
• Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies and procedures.
• Report to Phlebotomy Supervisor and take direction.
• Participate in lab QA, competency assessments, and continuing education.
• Provide services meeting patient and provider needs; enhance patient satisfaction.
